It was one of those emails that could have gone anywhere: "Crazy Dave wants to release a single and give the proceeds to Concern." Who, exactly, is Dave, what’s making him crazy and what is the song about?

To mark the first anniversary of the Haiti earthquake, American Eagle Outfitters have designed t-shirts and all the proceeds will be going towards Concern’s work in Haiti.

In 1997, I lived in a tent in the village of Nyamlell in Southern Sudan. It was a former British garrison town and our “compound” was based around the only concrete structure for miles. It could have been quite idyllic, if circumstances were different.

It was an evening of contrasts.
