June 2009 posts from all blogs
I can’t get it out of my head
It was an evening of contrasts.
Temporary tattoos, kites and banners
By now I’d say that anyone reading my blog posts thinks I have an unhealthy obsession with large props and tattoos (despite not having any real ones myself!). If I do a bit of soul searching I might have to admit that you are right.
Protesting against child labour: photos
As I type, there’s a group of kite-flying, tattoo-bearing, banner-wavers marching down O’Connell Street. It’s World Day Against Child Labour today and the protesters are making their voices heard.
Returning home after years of conflict
I’m standing on a rocky outcrop on the edge of a dust road in Masisi Territory, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. I’m talking to a group of Congolese farmers who are returning to rebuild their homes after fleeing the ethnic violence of the early 1990s.
The kite march
I’m just back from the World Day Against Child Labour march on O’Connell Street.
Food for thought
I spoke to the Irish Times recently about the aid budget, food prices and Concern’s CTC programme.
“The story is there is no story”
“The crisis in Pakistan is an unprecedented human drama, yet few in the wider world are paying attention.”
