Since the beginning of the emergency in east Africa, Concern has reached approximately 680,000 people. However, the crisis is far from over. There are still more than 10 million people in urgent need of help.
The Unheard Voices campaign is about ensuring poor farmers are able to grow enough food to feed their families. The devastating drought that has struck east Africa is a testament to how important this goal is.
The drought crisis in east Africa is worsening, but we are doing all we can to help the people there. We are now reaching over half a million people affected by the drought in Kenya, Ethiopia, and famine-hit Somalia.

In January, Concern Worldwide was awarded an EU grant for our work in Tanzania. This funding is specifically for our water and sanitation programme in the northwest of Tanzania.
It’s May 2011, and Dar es Salaam is wet. Almost every day so far, it’s been raining heavily and it’s lovely to sit in and watch the tropical storms. This is good to see – especially in a country where drought is increasingly common.
