Concern Worldwide has launched an emergency response in Badakhshan, Afghanistan after avalanches killed at least 43 people last month– burying an entire village in up to 10 feet of snow.
Torrential monsoon rains and subsequent flooding in August and September 2011 has ravaged southern Pakistan for the second consecutive year, affecting over 5.8 million people. Concern Worldwide launched an emergency response to these floods.
Concern Worldwide is working to protect people living on the streets of Dhaka, Bangladesh. These people are vulnerable to violence and kidnapping. Around 400 women and children in the country fall victim to trafficking every month.
With funding from Irish Aid, Concern Worldwide have responded to the drought in Afghanistan by implementing cash-for-work programmes and cash transfers for the poorest and most vulnerable families.
