Well, another year older, deeper in debt, and another triathlon season ahead! This year’s London Triathlon takes place on 7 and 8 August; I’ll be taking part in order to raise funds for Concern’s work in Liberia.

Since the earthquake in Haiti, many amazing people have come forward to fundraise in aid of Concern’s Haiti appeal. Just one example is six-year old Harry from Bray, who has raised over €4,000!

Tom Arnold received a Degree of Doctor of Laws yesterday from the National University of Ireland, the umbrella organisation for many of the country's great universities.

A combination of five aid cuts in just over a year and the surprise breaking of Ireland’s UN commitment date “will have serious ramifications for the poorest and most vulnerable in our world and for our international reputation,” according to Derek McDowell, Head of Advocacy at Concern.

Earlier this month, I attended the Ireland Involved Awards for volunteers in Dublin. Liam Burke was the winner of the International Development Volunteer category for his work with Concern.
