Dear Friend,

I would like to thank everyone who has donated to our recent appeal for displaced people in Darfur and Chad. We have so far raised over £700,000, which will help us to provide shelter and other supplies to families, some of whom have been living in camps for up to four years.

This work would not be possible without the generous support of our donors.

Thank you for your support.

Concern's emergency response team, working with local partner Nishkriti, has distributed relief packages to 4,000 families left homeless by the floods.

Concern has set up a new initiative in Fatima's village, whereby an enclosure of land is left fallow to allow regeneration. Members each have their own plot where indigenous plants such as grasses and acacia can grow.

Reforestation in DPR Korea

Tackling deforestation in DPR Korea

In recent times, major national shortages of fuel and construction materials in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have led to areas of forest being cleared for development. Rural people were also encouraged to farm on steep deforested slopes, increasing erosion and leaving land vulnerable to flooding. Rural communities are highly dependent on forests, so Concern has focused on improving forestry management, reducing soil erosion and regenerating natural forests.
