It’s a tragic reality that every day so many women in the developing world die during childbirth. This statistic is especially high for childbirth in Africa. Bringing one life into the world should not mean the loss of another. Your help is urgently needed.
The most precious gift any new baby can have is their mother. The second they are born, they depend on her for nourishment and care.
However, in Sierra Leone one in eight women die during childbirth. In many cases their deaths could have been easily prevented.

Improving hygiene
This poor West African country has one of the highest maternal death rates in the world. What’s worse is that so many women’s lives could easily be saved – simply by improving basic hygiene and by training and equipping birth attendants.
Lucy’s story
Lucy never felt her mother’s love because, like so many women in Sierra Leone, her mother died from complications soon after giving birth to her. Lucy’s mother was buried the same day her daughter was born. You can prevent children like Lucy from the same tragic fate.
