Harambee
Harambee is a Swahili word that means “working together for progress”.
It's also now the name given to a collaborative project between Concern and a group of committed supporters, working with the poorest communities to help change their lives for the better.
Harambee projects
Currently, Harambee is supporting four projects in Haiti, Liberia, Tanzania and India. These are all outlined here and everyone who joins Harambee commits to supporting these projects for three years.
By making a commitment to Harambee, you will give Concern’s field teams the confidence to make a real difference – working in the knowledge that they have ongoing support to create long-term improvements.
Impact
At the end of each project, lives will have been changed for the better. Communities will have been empowered through training and will be able to continue the work that required assistance to begin.
You, as a Harambee member, will receive regular updates and a personal point of contact so that you can keep up-to-date with what’s happening on the project you are supporting. You will also be invited to special briefings from Concern teams based in those four countries.
The commitment you will be making to Concern’s work is highly valued and once you agree to support Harambee you will not receive any further requests for donations from Concern unless you choose otherwise.
Concern is supporting farmers in Liberia by providing essential training and skills through resources centres.
To find out more about these facilities and the impact they are having, Naoise Kavanagh of the web team interviewed Liberian staff member Kate Rockingham. To listen to the podcast please click on the player below.
