Harambee
Harambee is a Swahili word that means “working together for progress.”

For the past three years, Harambee members have provided charity funding for five Concern projects in some of the poorest countries around the world. This phase is now coming to an end.
New phase
We are now inviting new and existing members to come together with communities in Chad, Burundi, DRC and Haiti, supporting them as they make major improvements in their lives.
Charity funding
Four new one-year projects have just been launched. Read about each project and download the proposal to read about what exactly Concern can achieve with your help. The projects are:
- Providing clean, safe water for more than 7,000 people in Chad
- Helping to diagnose and treat thousands of children for malaria in Burundi
- Building and stocking 12 fish ponds and two fish smoking stations in Katanga, DRC
- Building safe housing for families in Haiti whose homes were destroyed in the January 2010 earthquake
How Harambee works
We hope that between 10 and 20 people will join together to fund each of the selected projects.

As a member, you will be invited to attend briefings on your chosen project from Concern staff.
Impact
Each of the four Harambee projects will be completed in between 10 and 12 months. After that time, a full report will be prepared for Harambee members, showing them exactly how their funds have been spent and what has been achieved.
