Creative writing competition

The 2011 Concern Creative Writing Competition book is called “Dispatches from the Developing World.” It is a compilation of the winning articles and extracts from 80 other entries. There were nearly 800 entrants to this year’s competition from 37 countries.

Foreign correspondents

This was the fourth year of the charity writing competition. Entrants were asked to imagine they were a foreign correspondent working in the developing world for a newspaper. They had to write a 1,000 word article on one of these three topics:

  • Living on less than $2 a day in the developing world
  • The future of a child born today in the developing world
  • Lessons we can learn from the developing world
