Events in schools

Hundreds of schools have taken part in FoodAid over the last few years. Plenty of them have had great things to say about it. Below is just a selection of quotes and photos from teachers on what activities they organised and how their students enjoyed them.

Cromwell High School, Dukinfeld

"We held a variety of fundraising events over our FoodAid week – including a sponsored swim called 'Splash for cash', a sponsored 'bounce' on the trampoline, CD/video sales, toy stalls, various food sales and a Food Aid cafe. All the pupils took part and we had an enjoyable week with most of our pupils understanding what we were raising money for. We also had local press coverage. I was delighted that we managed to raise over £500, which far exceeded our expectations – considering that we are a small special school of 70 pupils.”

Brooksbank School

"We raised £111.67 by having two FoodAid bake sales across two lunchtimes. Year 12 pupils made lots of cakes and buns and then sold them with great determination! They didn't stop selling until every last one had gone. All of the pupils had a great time and we really enjoyed ourselves trying to raise as much money as possible."

Prince of Wales Primary School, Enfield

"We organised a FoodAid assembly, which was led by the school council. We talked about FoodAid and adapted the PowerPoint presentation that you had provided. We also used the song 'Why wouldn't you'. It was very successful – the children learned about many of the issues poor countries are facing and how they can help. We raised a total of £150."
