Go extra mile with Concern Challenges
Building on our successful partnership with the Belfast City Marathon 2010, Concern is offering supporters a range of local and international challenge events. They are taking place this summer and throughout the next year.
Ethiopia Run
For those seeking a life-changing challenge, the 2010 Great Ethiopian Run won’t disappoint. Taking place in November 2010, this is the biggest race on the African continent with the added challenge of the high altitude. Your trip will include a visit to a Concern-funded project so you can see how your money will be put to work. You’ll also have the opportunity to share a meal and training tips with Ethiopian running legend Haile Gebrselassie.
Extra mile
To take part in this incredible experience, you’ll need to raise a minimum of £2,300. Half of this will cover your costs, while the other half will fund our work and help Concern go the extra mile to support poor families across the developing world. Our staff will be available with support to help you reach your fundraising and training targets.
“Walk for Water”
In October, closer to home, the second annual “Walk for Water” event at the Silent Valley Resevoir will take place in the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. Participants can choose between a two mile and six mile walk. This makes the event suitable for families, who can enjoy some of the finest scenery while raising money to help provide clean and safe water to communities in Africa. The entry cost is £10 for adults, £5 for children over 10 and free for under 10s.
Upcoming events
Our challenge calendar for 2010/2011 also includes the Dublin and New York Marathons, Kilimanjaro Cycle and a trek to south west India. To get more details of any of our events, or to organise your own, visit www.concernchallenge.org or contact Claire Fitzsimons on 00 44 28 9033 1100.
