Somalia drought: time to act

The drought in Somalia and the wider east Africa region is the worst to have hit the area in 60 years. Urgent and coordinated action is needed.
Widespread devastation
More than 10 million people have been affected by the drought across large areas of Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Many of these people are dependant on their land and livestock for survival.
The prolonged drought has devastated crops and animals are dying from lack of water and basic nutrition.
Concern’s overseas director, Paul O’Brien, said:
When their animals start dying, these people start dying. And when the poorest and most vulnerable people start dying it is time for the world to act. Concern has been responding to this crisis since late last year, but urgent and coordinated action must now be taken to prevent a potential nightmare scenario unfolding in the east Africa region.
Help needed
So far, we have reached over 100,000 people with clean water, food and nutritional care. But with the crisis escalating, we need your help to do more.
