International Women’s Day 2011
Concern Worldwide is marking100 years of International Women's Day on 8 March. We're celebrating the work we do to empower women in the world's poorest countries. Why don’t you join with us on this important occasion?
Even though there is cause for celebration, we still have a long way to go — particularly in the areas of gender-based violence and education. Find out why more needs to change.
Three fantastic events are taking place.
Stephen’s Green
The first event is on in Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, Dublin. There'll be a whole host of activities and promotions taking place as well as spot prizes and discounts. This event also coincides with the run of the Philip Lynott Exhibition at the centre. Hot Press will also be offering a 20% discount off the entrance fee to anyone presenting a Concern flyer to that exhibition. Read more about this offer.
Photo exhibition
Simultaneously, in Limerick, the Women of Concern Photographic Exhibition will be taking place. It will showcase three of Ireland's leading female photographers and features images from countries where Concern supports women’s development projects.
This exhibition will run from International Women's Day until the end of March at The Hunt Museum, Rutland Street, Limerick. It will also be displayed in at the University of Ulster, Belfast, from 8 March for two weeks.
Celebrate with us
From Dublin to Limerick to Belfast, the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day promises to be a special day. We’re delighted to be able to celebrate this important landmark and hope you can join us too.
Mini marathon
This year, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day, we want 100 women to sign up for the Women's Mini Marathon in Dublin on 6 June.
