Tobermore builds schools in Kenya
Paving and walling manufacturer, Tobermore has shown that while charity begins at home, it can span right across the globe.
Tobermore has developed a new partnership with Concern Worldwide and will be making an annual contribution over the next three years. This will support two major schemes in Kenya and India.
New schools in Kenya
The main project is in Nyanza Province, Kenya and the contribution from Tobermore will help Concern:
• Build 12 new schools
• Help establish school management councils
• Provide clean water for the schools and the local community
• Provide health care guidance at the schools
• Provide grants to the local community to help them start up their own businesses
HIV and AIDS
The second project will provide much-needed funding to reduce the spread of HIV and AIDS in Orissa, India. In this region there is little understanding of the basic facts of HIV and limited access to testing, treatment or counseling. Orissa is one of the most deprived areas in India with 48% of the people living in poverty.
Tobermore staff will be running various fundraising activities, including regional marathons, to raise even more money for Concern.
