Global Campaign for Education

Everyone has the right to an education. But there are 69 million children out of school and almost one billion adults who cannot read or write. The Global Campaign for Education aims to put an end to this crisis. Every year, campaigners all over the world unite for one week in May. This is called the Global Action Week.

Global Action Week

This year’s Global Action Week takes place from 2 to 8 May. The campaign aims to ensure that women and girls have the same chance at education as men and boys. This is extremely important. At the moment, one in four women in the world are unable to read or write.

Sharing stories

This year, campaigners around the world are being  encouraged to share their stories about the importance of education. You can take part – it’s easy. Visit the Global Action Week site and share your own story by clicking on the “sign up” link.

Take action

By doing this, you’ll be helping to urge governments to take action on education.
