Belfast Marathon

Concern is the official international charity for the Belfast City Marathon. We’re looking for as many people as possible to join the Concern marathon team.

Whether a seasoned marathon runner or a complete beginner, we are here to help you every step of the way and look forward to getting to know you better.

Whether you run or walk the full distance, be part of a relay team or do the fun-run with the family, taking part will be an amazing experience. With your commitment, we can make a real impact in communities affected by extreme poverty and hunger.

Tips from Sonia

Sonia O’Sullivan, former world champion runner, will offer some running tips and advice to everyone running for Concern. We’ll send these out periodically in the run up to the marathon.

Fighting hunger and poverty

Sonia, we’re proud to say, has represented Concern in the past; she says: “I have seen some of Concern's projects in Ethiopia so I know that the money you raise for Concern will be put to amazing use. I've known Concern for quite some time so know they have incredible impact in the fight against hunger and extreme poverty in the world.”

What can you expect from Concern?

As well as training tips from Sonia, everyone on the Concern team will receive fundraising support, a Concern t-shirt and running vest and updates on our projects overseas. We’ll also provide great support on the day and a reception afterwards.

Details

The marathon takes place on 3 May 2010. The route is the same as in 2009 and will start at Belfast City Hall and finish at Ormeau Park.

Raise that money

Money you raise will go towards our health programmes. Your efforts mean we can focus on nutrition programmes for children, support for pregnant women and the training of community health workers. We need to continue with these programmes, so your support is vital.
