Women of Concern launch in Cork

It provides an opportunity for Irish people to express solidarity and support for women who are less fortunate.

Cork event

Now, the Women of Concern group is coming to Cork. The launch event will take place on Wednesday 7 October, between 6 and 8pm.

What to expect

The night will be similar to the Women of Concern event that took place last May in Dublin.  Have a look at some photos from that night.

Nora Owen will open the proceedings. She will speak about the purpose of Women of Concern and the three projects that the group is supporting in Haiti, Ethiopia and Bangladesh.

Gender issues

Concern’s Louise Supple will speak about women and gender issues in general. Mary Rwegasira, who is currently visiting from Tanzania, will speak about her experiences from that country.

Special guests

Other guests will include Darina Allen, Cathy Davey, Dara Murphy (the Lord Mayor of Cork) and some local politicians. There’s also a chance that more of our ambassadors will be coming on the night.

More information

The event will take place in Heineken Ireland, Murphy Brewery, Hospitality Suite, Leitrim Street, Cork.
