Stand up for Concern
Thursday, 1 November 2007
Belfast comedian and actor Tim McGarry took to the stage at the Limelight for a Concern Fast Friends' fundraiser on Sunday 21 October.
Tim, star of “Give My Head Peace” and member of the Hole in the Wall Gang is a regular Concern supporter. Aiming to raise funds for Concern’s Fast Friends campaign, he went back to the core of his craft with a stand up set, entertaining the crowd with his observations on local current affairs. He was supported on the night by Galway comedian John Donnellan, a rising star on the comedy scene who represented Ireland at Edinburgh Festival’s “So you think you’re funny” competition.
The event was organised by Concern Fast Friend Katrina Doran. “A comedy night seemed ideal for the Fast Friends campaign, as it was all about having a laugh with friends – all the organising was worth it to see people piling through the door, to hear the laughing, and the best bit was knowing that all the money raised”, Katrina said.
Fast Friends day is Friday 30 November
