Photo exhibition on the exploitation of Haitian migrants
Wednesday, 15 November 2006
"Illegal Portraits" is the theme of a photographic exhibition of Haitian immigrants in the Dominican Republic by photojournalist Gianni Dal Maas, which takes place from 22 to 26 November in 4/5 Smock Alley, West Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.

Hosted by Concern in association with Progressio Ireland and Trocaire, the photos document the lives of Haitian migrants who are denied basic human rights and endure appalling working conditions in the Dominican Republic.
The award-winning documentary "Bitter Sugar" is also being screened at the exhibition. This documentary, produced by Simone Del Grosso and Peter Ranalli, looks at the plight of Haitians working on the sugar plantations in the southern region of the Dominican Republic.
The exhibition is free and is open to the public from 11am to 7pm.
