Every year on 8 March people celebrate International Women's Day. This year Concern Worldwide has a number of events to mark the day while highlighting the plight of some of the women we work with.
It’s now nearly two months since the earthquake hit Haiti and an estimated 700,000 people are living in make-shift shelters. Concern is focusing most of its emergency response on water and sanitation in two areas in Port-au-Prince.

To mark International Women’s Day on 8 March, Concern Worldwide launched its “Women Can’t Wait” campaign with a reception in the House of Lords, hosted by Baroness Nuala O’Loan DBE.
Concern Worldwide, Valid Nutrition and Irish Aid were named winners of the “Organisational Systems and Processes” category at the Irish Times All Island Innovation Awards.
In November 2009, the European Commission (EC) awarded a two-year €1.97 million grant to Concern Tanzania for its work in the agricultural sector. The grant will help poor farmers, in 175 villages, avail of their rights to food and land. It will also help to mitigate the negative effects of recent poor harvests and rising food prices.
