“Hard lessons” in Kenyan slums

When fighting erupted following the Kenyan presidential election in 2007, schools were badly affected. Many still haven’t recovered.

The slums in Kenya are in a dire state.

An opportunity

Many of these people can’t afford to send their children to school. For those who can, it is a valuable opportunity. The classrooms are cramped and dark, but the teachers are committed to education.

“Hard lessons”

This video explores what it is like to go to school in the “unforgiving conditions” of the Kibera and Mitumba slums. This is the first in a series of videos.

They were broadcast on NTV Kenya in association with Concern.
