Concern is very pleased to have sponsored Positive Lives: international responses to HIV & AIDS , a publication which shows the breadth and depth of the Positive Lives project, now in its fourteenth year. If you would like to have a copy of the book, we are asking for a donation of £7.50 which will cover postage and packaging.

To order the book call 020 7960 4629.

With over 100 photographs, the book examines the international HIV & AIDS pandemic through the six themes of Poverty and Risk, Prevention, Transmission, Stigma and discrimination, Care and Living positively.

In each section, personal stories, shown through photographs and narratives, of individuals in over 25 countries are shared, demonstrating the daily courage of those affected by the disease.

Concern has commissioned new photographic work in Rwanda, where a government sponsored initiative for voluntary counselling and testing has recently been set up and is working to positive effect.

Contributions include a foreword by Mary Robinson and an overview by Sir Myles Wickstead, chair of Concern Worldwide. Texts on the power of photography and on photography as a tool for social change sit alongside photographic work of the highest quality, from internationally renowned photojournalists.

As a catalogue of the recent exhibition, Positive Lives: international responses to HIV & AIDS demonstrates how these individual photo stories can be used to combat fear and discrimination in many varied settings in many cultural contexts.
