Race against time in Pakistan floods response

The Overseas Director of Concern Worldwide, Ireland’s leading humanitarian agency, today criticised the international response to the Pakistan flooding emergency and said rapid action and the delivery of funding is needed to prevent an escalation of humanitarian crisis there.

“This is an unprecedented humanitarian crisis that requires an unprecedented response,” said Paul O’Brien. “So far, the international response has been deficient and insufficient for a crisis that will eclipse the Asian tsunami and the earthquake in Haiti, and history will judge us harshly if the international community does not respond adequately and with urgency.”
