Unheard Voices: Marginal farmers in Zambia’s Western Province
Half of the world’s undernourished people, three-quarters of Africa’s malnourished children, and the majority of people living in absolute poverty, live on small farms where they struggle to grow enough food to feed their families all year round.
In theory, these "farming yet hungry" farmers should be at the centre of efforts to defeat poverty and hunger, yet, distant from centres of power and influence, they have long suffered neglect by policy makers and their voices remain largely unheard.
