Democratic Republic of Congo appeal - distribution in pictures
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has endured political and social turmoil since gaining independence from Belgium in 1960.
Recent estimates are that 3.9 million people have died since 1998 as a result of the direct and indirect consequences of the ongoing conflict. Between 1.4 and 1.6 million people are now displaced, and an additional 1.3 million "returnees" need assistance to rebuild their lives.
Concern is responding by distributing seeds, oil, salt and tools, food and resettlement kits. The slideshow below shows this valuable work.
