Liberia appeal
After 14 years of conflict, extreme hardship has become a way of life in Liberia. But now Concern has a chance to change this desperate situation.
If you walk through any of the towns of Liberia today, you can’t help but be shocked and deeply saddened by what 14 years of civil war has done. The years of conflict almost entirely destroyed Liberia’s main livelihood – its agriculture sector. Today, nearly 80% of the population lives on less than 70 cents a day and a recent World Food Programme survey found that about 40% of the entire population are highly vulnerable to food shortages. Concern urgently needs your help to enable the people of Liberia to re-establish their livelihoods and rebuild lives. One extremely effective way Concern has been doing this is by setting up a number of farmer resource centres to train people in effective farming methods and other essential skills needed to secure their livelihoods. Read more about these centres here. Also, listen to a podcast about the centres by clicking here. |

These have already helped thousands of farmers and their families make a living. But there is much more work to be done and more centres are needed to help those desperately trying to provide for their families. |
