Climate change

Climate change is already taking place and human activity is a major cause of it.  Developed nations are amongst the worst offenders when it comes to polluting our planet, including Ireland, whose climate polluting emissions per capita are the fifth highest in the developed world.

Already Concern is witnessing firsthand the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities in Kenya, Zambia, Ethiopia and Bangladesh.  Although the people in these countries have contributed least to the problem of global warming and climate change, they are the ones who are being hit hardest by its effects.

This section of the site provides information about people in Africa and Asia whose lives are coming under serious threat from increased rainfall, longer droughts and other marked changes in seasonal weather patterns.  Concern is already supporting these communities in their efforts to limit the impact of negative climate change on their lives.

Concern is helping these people by clearing irrigation and flood canals, building wells and establishing plans and responses for future disasters. Read on
