This Christmas, 75,000 people in Katanga are coming home to no home at all. After five long and brutal years, the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has claimed almost four million victims. In August 2006, our Emergency Response Team arrived in the eastern province of Katanga, where an estimated 160,000 people have been displaced.

- Concern's work in DR Congo is underway despite heavy rains
DR Congo has been ravaged by bloody conflicts during the civil war and militia uprisings over the last five years. Eastern DR Congo was the worst affected by the war, and many people suffered immensely and were forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in nearby forests for nearly two years. (14 Dec 2006)
