Distribution started in Myanmar

Concern’s partner Welthungerhilfe has begun distribution of food and supplies, according to Angela Schwarz, Welthungerhilfe’s regional co-ordinator for Myanmar. Welthungerhilfe is focusing its efforts in areas where it has projects, including Htan Tabin and in some of the poorest areas around Yangon and Rangoon.

Welthungerhilfe is distributing rice and materials for temporary shelter. It is also working with two local partners in the Irrawaddy Delta. The main focus there is trying to get much-needed supplies to poor farmers.

Approximately 50,000 people will receive food and shelter as part of Welthungerhilfe’s distribution. You can help by donating.

There is still intense media coverage of the disaster with varying accounts of the damage caused and the number of dead.
