Thanks to your pressure over the past year, the Department for International Development agreed to an internal review of its agriculture policy. This is as a result of our Unheard Voices campaign and those of you who wrote to Douglas Alexander in October 2007 and to your MPs over the summer.
Concern Worldwide will be feeding into the review, ensuring the voices of marginal farmers are heard. We’re putting together a submission to the Department for International Development which is also available here.
A number of pieces of research commissioned by Concern have now been published and can be accessed in the research section. These include reports on the challenges faced by marginal farmers in Zambia and Tanzania with policy recommendations for donors and governments.
We’ll keep you posted on the outcome of the interim review in the New Year. Thanks for all your letters and emails – the pressure worked!
