The Concern Cecil Woodham-Smith Writing competition is now closed and entries are currently being reviewed by our judging panel. The results will be available here in mid May.
To mark the 40th Anniversary of the founding of Concern, an annual writing competition has been launched for students to write about global issues. The theme for this year is

It is the year 2058 you are asked by a child "What was the biggest human achievement in your lifetime". Without hesitation you reply "It was the year hunger was finally ended."

Your task is to write an essay or short story explaining how hunger was eradicated from the world entitled "A World Without Hunger".
The winners of this year's competition will meet Kofi Annan former UN Secretary General of the United Nations at the Concern International conference in Dublin in October 2008.
Other prizes include laptops, ipods, magazine subscriptions and more.
All prizes will be sponsored.
