Videos: cause and effect

We’ve launched an educational resource and a series of videos, examining the cause and effect of HIV and AIDS. You can watch them below.

HIV is 100% preventable – this is a startling fact. Yet, since its emergence in the mid-1980s, it has led to the death of millions of people and caused untold suffering for millions more. There is still no known cure for HIV and AIDS. But, with better access to treatment and rising awareness about prevention, the situation is improving.

Developing world

However, the fact remains that the vast majority of people contracting HIV and AIDS live in places like sub-Saharan Africa and south-east Asia.

What we do

We work there, educating people about HIV and AIDS. Our work focuses on prevention, treatment and dispelling stigma and discrimination.

Educating Irish students

In 2011, people aged between 15 and 24  accounted for 40% of all new adult HIV infections. This proves that HIV and AIDS education is extremely important in secondary education.

So, we have created a full resource pack about HIV and AIDS. It includes lesson plans, discussion questions, activities and four videos examining prevention and testing, stigma, access to treatment and living positively.

The pack is free to download and costs €10 to order.
