Syrian women's voices

Concern Worldwide’s CEO Dominic MacSorley recently wrote a column in the Sunday Business Post about the need to include the voices of women in the Syrian conflict. Here is an excerpt from it.

Theirs are the stories that are not being told, even though they are the ones who will be most affected by any action taken by international leaders.
It is time that we listen and remember that behind every numerical figure or statistic is a person whose future is at stake as we watch politicians debate on if, how, and when to respond.
As the debate around the legality of an international response intensifies, we should turn to Security Council Resolution 1325: on women and peace and security. Unanimously adopted in October 2000, it stresses the importance of equal participation and the full involvement of women in all efforts for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security.
