Haiti hit by storm

A tropical storm has hit Haiti's crowded camps for earthquake survivors and coastal towns, triggering flooding and mudslides. According to news reports, at least seven people have been killed. Concern Worldwide is well-prepared to get immediate help to those affected.

Emergency materials

We knew this storm was coming, and in the last week we’ve made every possible effort to warn and prepare those at risk and to protect the most vulnerable. Along with our partners, we’ve been conducting large-scale public information campaigns in the camps and tent cities.

We have prepared emergency shelter materials such as tarpaulins and other relief supplies.

Elke Leidel, our country director in Haiti, said:

Our staff are already working at full capacity to respond to the cholera outbreak as well as to the ongoing humanitarian needs of earthquake survivors. The Haitian people have already endured so much – another disaster is unthinkable.
