Haiti video: mix of emotions

The situation is becoming more difficult. The Haitian people require more assistance. Their patience is faltering but their need does not lessen. But there is still hope.

Many of our staff returned to the office today. I was a mix of emotions. I was so happy to see them but then saddened as they spoke of their losses. One colleague lost her husband, another lost their child. I heard how another person’s brother was in Caribbean market, the supermarket which collapsed, and had walked out the door when the earthquake hit. His friends were inside; they have not come out.

Sharing stories

They shared their stories, which were hard to hear but also drove home the sheer impact of this disaster.

Concern’s intervention is underway as the aid pours in. The team have been working tirelessly through their trauma and I am vey proud of them.
