Rob Kearney's visit to Ethiopia

Ireland rugby star Rob Kearney has been an ambassador for Concern for the last three years, supporting fundraising campaigns such as the Concern Fast, Concern Gifts and the Concern Raffle.  More recently, he visited Ethiopia to see Concern’s work firsthand.

Video diary

We took the opportunity to bring Rob to Ethiopia when his injury left him with time on his hands. Rob made a video diary for each day of his trip. Here’s a video from the last day of his visit:

In the clip from the first day, Rob spoke about his first impressions of the country and his plans for the days ahead.

On the second day, Rob visited Concern’s food distribution programme

Rob reflected on his impressions of the country on the the third day.

The following day was by far the busiest. Rob discussed meeting many beneficiaries of Concern’s work, from a six-year old girl suffering from HIV to visiting Concern’s gender-based violence programme. He was particularly moved by meeting single mother Toybe Ahmed and her son Mohammed. Rob then met a farmer who is able to grow potatoes and apples, thanks to Concern’s help, before paying a visit to a school.
