Scaling Pike Peak

As Autumn approaches, the summer may seem like a distant memory and next summer a far off fantasy. But you can never be too prepared and the Concern Challenges team is already taking bookings for next summer’s trip to Nepal in May 2008.

From 10 to 22 May, a team of Concern challengers will trek through one of the most beautiful parts of the Himalayas on the way to climbing Pike Peak.

The proposed route is way off the tourist track, and will provide a real glimpse into Nepalese life. A moderate level of fitness is required to complete this trek as the route ascends to over 4,000 metres. But all the effort will be worth it: at the summit of Pike Peak there are spectacular views of the majestic Mount Everest.

To help people raise the necessary funds for this Nepalese adventure, the Concern Challenges site now allows challengers to create their own profiles online. This includes a message from them, pictures and most importantly it allows other people to sponsor them. Finding a person to sponsor is easy, and there is a running total of the Top 10 Fundraisers. At the moment, Michael and Margaret Slattery are top of the chart.
