Some helplessness, but more hope

Here's Olive's last post from the Fighting Hunger Conference. It’s been a day of mixed feelings – some helplessness, but more hope. That might be down to what John O’Loughlin-Kennedy (one of the founders of Concern) said earlier.

He said we shouldn’t be daunted by daunting tasks. When we look at the scale of the challenge, this is really worth remembering!

Other things that came through really clearly are the need for delivery on promises by the international community, the African leadership that’s making a real difference and the prospect that Ireland could take a real leadership role on this hunger issue. With its own history of poverty, its well recognised public support and consistent political pressure, there would be no better outcome from today than to harness all of this in favour of a serious impact on the problem of world hunger.
