Fairtrade fortnight

I have a spring in my step as election fever gives way to Fairtrade fever. Fairtrade fortnight is running from 28 February to the 14 March — just in time for Fairtrade t-shirt weather!

<--break--> Show off your label

Fairtrade want the whole country to get loud and proud by "showing off your label." Basically, we want you to showcase all your Fairtrade products. By doing this, you'll be highlighting how important Fairtrade is to producers.

Fairtrade is helping to transform the lives of millions of farmers by securing a more stable future for local communities in developing countries. We all have a role to play so please join me in showing off for Fairtrade! In doing so, you’ll encourage others to follow in your footsteps. <--nodebreak-->

Focus on cotton

There’s a much-needed focus on cotton for this year’s Fairtrade fortnight. Cotton has an important link to the fashion industry and can carry the Fairtrade message far beyond a slogan on a t-shirt.

Fairtrade bake off

In Concern, we’re celebrating with our annual Fairtrade bake off. I’m going all out – not only am I baking a cake with Fairtrade ingredients but I’m also throwing my Fairtrade jumper into the mix — in memory of the Father Ted jumper cake

Put it to the testo

Fairtrade makes a tangible difference to producers. I hope the new government makes a tangible difference to the world’s poorest. My line for election candidates is: “I like your manifesto, put it to the testo!” Now, where have you heard those lyrics before and what has this got to do with my Fairtrade jumper cake?
