NUI Galway and Concern Worldwide have been awarded a grant by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The project will aim to reduce labour demands on women farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Through linking the women smallholder farmer groups to rapid-prototyping user innovation processes, Paul Wagstaff from Concern indicated that “there is significant potential to improve the status of rural women through fostering an enterprise-oriented “maker culture” for agri-tool innovations.”
