Concern Worldwide's expert on international natural disasters, Dom Hunt, will speak at a free public talk in Cork City Central Library on the Grand Parade on Tuesday 15 October at 7.30pm.

Dom is our Disaster Risk Reduction Adviser and is a key member of our Emergency Unit.Here is an excerpt from the press release, which can be read by clicking on the link below:

It is considerably cheaper and more effective from a humanitarian point of view to put in place measures designed to prevent the full impact of natural disasters than to react to them. One only has to recall the massive death toll in 2010’s Haiti earthquake, and the role poorly constructed housing and high population density played in that disaster, to realise the significance of disaster risk reduction.
