CTC Learning Forum Report - Quality Training for Health Workers

CTC Learning Forum Report - Quality Training for Health Workers

25 March 2008

The sixth CTC Learning Forum was held in Lilongwe district in February, 2008, and focused on efforts being made to improve the quality and effectiveness of training for CTC in Malawi. Training is a major investment in starting and maintaining a CTC programme.

At the moment, all training for CTC is done as in service training, although some doctors, nurses, and clinicians in Malawi receive pre-service training on inpatient management of acute malnutrition through Nutrition Rehabilitation Units.

As the Malawi government increasingly takes on responsibility for the management of CTC through the health system, it is even more important that effective, standardized training and tools are available for districts to conduct their own CTC trainings.
