Mainstreaming HIV and AIDS, Bangladesh

Mainstreaming HIV and AIDS, Bangladesh

19 February 2010

Concern has been working among the poorest and most vulnerable groups in Bangladesh since 1972. Written by Professor ASM Amanullah, Dr Nahid Ahmed Chowdhury, Jalal Uddin, Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka.

We aimed to incorporate our work with HIV throughout all our projects. This means that our work with HIV and AIDS reaches approximately four million people, as well as over 200 Concern staff and more than 500 staff of Concern partner NGOs. The project started on October 2005 and ended December 2008.

At the end of the third year of implementation, HASAB - a non-government organisation with a long working experience in HIV and AIDS - was assigned to conduct a final evaluation of the programme. The objective of the evaluation was aimed to gauge the relevancy of the programme in regards to national policy context, efficiency of the programme and the effectiveness of the programme implementation.
