South Sudan crisis spills into Ethiopia

Concern Worldwide has escalated its aid response in South Sudan to cope with the daily influx of 1,000 refugees fleeing conflict into neighbouring Ethiopia.

The refugees, who are mainly women and children, are reported to be suffering from high rates of malnutrition and are in need of urgent assistance.

Since the conflict in South Sudan started in mid-December, more than 220,000 people have fled into the neighbouring countries of Uganda, Kenya, the Republic of Sudan, and Ethiopia. An estimated 750,000 are internally displaced within the country itself.
