Our programmes
Our charity work focuses on education, emergencies and health, livelihoods, HIV and AIDS.

72 million children around the world are not enrolled in school; Concern Worldwide focuses on providing basic education to those who need it most. Access to education is not only a basic human right, but also a key factor in reducing poverty and child labour.
Many of the countries where Concern Worldwide works are highly vulnerable to conflict-based emergencies and natural disaster. They are prone to floods, storms, earthquakes and droughts. The frequency of these disasters is increasing at an alarming rate.
Concern Worldwide recognises that poverty, inequality and marginalisation are both the root causes and consequences of poor health. Today, there are an estimated 1.3 billion people living in extreme poverty, most of whom regularly experience health problems.
Concern Worldwide has been supporting the livelihoods of the poorest people in developing countries for over 30 years. Put simply, “livelihoods” means a person’s ability to earn a living. But it is about so much more than just income, it is about everything that makes an impact on a person’s life.
In 2009, there were 1.8 million AIDS-related deaths. At the end of 2009, there were 33.3 million people worldwide living with HIV. Up to 300 million people are directly affected by the pandemic, including orphaned children.
