let me just express my outright uproar at this result in the words of the chief adjudicator "it would be an embarrassment to have this motion defeated" this year was an embarrassment for concern who had such a good name for debates up to this my faith in you concern really has dropped i thought ye were higher than to stoop to this level the contest was rigged and i hope gort community school will be in touch with those misguided judges who robbed them of their deserved victory, sorry guys i really am disappointed...

SSSAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNDDDFFFOOOOORDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!

Well Done Sandford.. Big up Mr C...

I agree. The contest was a shambles. As far as I know, GCS have lodged an official complaint against this matter. Rightly so.

Hi, It is a pity such a competition is being spoiled by rancour. I think motions need to be looked at .There were at least 3 very one sided ones this year and the final motion was not at all fair. But did Gort not opt for that one? Strange. Good motions should be wide enough for both sides to argue them. Motions should never be in the negative and there should be scope for wide ranging opinions. I thought last years motions were far better. Overall though it is important to be a good loser and Concern are giving a forum no one else does.

As a completely neutral observer of last week's final, I have to say, regardless of Gort's more down to earth nature, Sandford Park were the better debaters on the night and deservedly the winners. Their final two speakers were fantastic. I doubt Concern would put a motion forward like that if they really planned on not allowing it to be defeated.

I would just like to say that Gort chose that side of the argument when they won the coin toss against Sandford at the end of the semi-finals. They had a choice in which side they could pick and in my opinion can't complain about the situation since they picked that side of the motion.

Hi Guys, Cillian here the fourth speaker for Gort. I would just like to say because I hate reading this blog and people claiming the motion was undebatable, and other people saying that if Gort are complaining it is their fault as they picked the side of the motion. To be frank, I believe the motion itself was 100% fair and perfectly debatable, It's only fault was it was possibly too topical at the moment....both sides had alot of ammo. and if I or any member of our team had the chance to pick again, than we would all still side with the motion we picked. On a personal note I also believe that it was the right side of the motion. It does however annoy me when people claim that if Gort thought the adjudicators were bias than why did they pick the ''anti-concern'' side of the motion? Gort had no reason whatsoever to have any thought that the adjudication would have any bias before the debate...that said we have some issues with the debate and these have been taken up with Concern. I think these blogs would serve better as a discussion on the motion of the debate, and perhaps seeing people just express their view on whether people thought the motion was right or wrong would be a better and more entertaining function for these blogs rather than people on both sides slinging mud, I understand why some people are annoyed and If people really feel so strongly about this then write to Concern or email but let's not scar these blogs, there's nothing to be achieved by wrecking the Concern blogs which are usually good fun! Just felt that needed to be said! Thanks Cillian
