Dublin: recession busting bargains

A good bargain is just what’s needed to dispel the ever-present gloom of the recession. There will be bargains galore on 22 March when over 1,800 items of clothing, shoes, bags and jewellery will be sold in order to raise money for Concern’s work in Ethiopia. The items will not be priced on the day – the best offers will be accepted. So sharpen your haggling skills!

If you are in Dublin, visit the Shelbourne Suite in the Stillorgan Park Hotel on Sunday 22 March from 9am to 6pm. There is no cover charge, no tickets are required and it is not an auction. It’s similar to a sample sale, but with a wide variety of brands and sizes.

The fundraiser is being organised by Tara Corristine, who was born in Ethiopia when her parents were volunteering for Concern some years ago. Tara has worked in the retail industry for years and used all her contacts and powers of persuasion to convince leading boutiques and wholesalers to donate stock and samples to this excellent cause.

Some of the brands on sale will include Alannah Hill, Sonia Fortuna, Michel Ambers, Stella Forest, Shirt Passion and Regine.

Most items retail at over €250, with some originally costing €1,250. Beat the recession in style.
