Give life-saving support to malnourished children in CAR
Your support can deliver vital nutrition to children suffering from severe malnutrition in Central African Republic
Central African Republic (CAR) is facing a severe hunger crisis, driven by conflict, instability, displacement and climate change.
This multi-faceted crisis is leading to dangerous levels of hunger among children and babies, with 300,000 children under the age of five in CAR suffering from severe acute malnutrition. And cuts to international aid are putting more lives at risk. But your donation can help.
Concern's staff are on the ground in CAR providing life-saving nutrition, emergency therapeutic food and medical treatment to children who need it, as well as implementing sustainable programmes in communities to build resilience against future shocks. Supporters like you are giving families a chance to recover, survive and rebuild - families like Dominique's*.
Dominique and Sylvie

Our team met Dominique and her two-year-old granddaughter Sylvie* at a health centre we support in Mboto. Sylvie’s mother died suddenly, leaving her and her two siblings in the care of their grandmother Dominique.
Still grieving the loss of her daughter, Dominique and her husband work hard to provide for the family, but, with food incredibly scarce, it’s an almost impossible task. Dominique grew concerned about her grandchildren’s health - particularly little Sylvie, who had lost weight and had frequent diarrhoea.
Dominique brought the three children to Concern’s health clinic, walking for hours with Sylvie in her arms. Here, Sylvie was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition. But thankfully, what helped Sylvie to recover was something very simple: fortified porridge.

Made from flour that’s enriched with essential vitamins and minerals, it has everything a child needs to grow and thrive. It’s provided by health centres in dried form to be mixed with water and cooked at home, and Concern health workers also teach communities how to prepare it themselves with grains and seeds, which means families can batch cook and feed their children for months.
Alongside nutritional support, this fortified porridge helped bring Sylvie back to health. Your donation can help us provide more children with this life-saving support.
