Climate Fresk in Burundi and Rwanda

Burundi and Rwanda, two landlocked countries in East Africa, are facing the growing impacts of climate change, including the living conditions of rural populations, who are largely dependent on agriculture. 

Grounded in a country-led initiative by Concern’s teams and local partners, this paper presents lessons from the piloting of climate change awareness-raising activities called the Climate Fresk within the Green Graduation programme. 

Funded by Irish Aid and implemented by Concern with local partners since 2023, the experience described reflects a context-specific initiative developed and tested by country teams in response to local priorities and should be read as programme-level learning rather than a prescriptive model.
